Ineos Grenadier x Bowlus | The Ultimate Towing Test

Join Founder and CEO, Geneva Long, as we pair the Bowlus Endless Highways with the 2025 Ineos Grenadier Station Wagon, a vehicle that makes no excuses for its rugged, highly capable off-road pedigree.

While many modern SUVs have drifted toward soft, screen-heavy luxury, the Grenadier embraces a purposeful, no-frills philosophy that feels like a classic truck built on a ladder frame. It is solid, planted, and massively over-spec’d for the task of towing a Bowlus, providing a stable, composed experience that inspires absolute confidence on the open road.

The Grenadier stands out for its mechanical simplicity and analog character, perfectly mirroring the timeless design of a Bowlus. We were particularly impressed by its commitment to physical controls; oversized buttons and switches take precedence over buried touchscreen menus, offering a refreshing level of tactile feedback. This durability extends to the interior, which features floors with drain plugs designed to be hosed out after a filthy camping trip. With its modular accessory platform and expedition-ready roof rails, the Grenadier doesn’t just tow the Bowlus, it enhances it. It is a fantastic match for travelers who value old-school toughness and the freedom to stay longer in the wild without ever relying on a paved road.

FAQs

The INEOS Grenadier is an exceptional match for the Bowlus, offering a stable and composed towing experience. Built on a classic ladder frame, it provides a solid, planted feel that inspires confidence on the road. Unlike some luxury SUVs with soft or “floaty” suspensions, the Grenadier remains rigid and controlled, perfectly complementing the lightweight profile of a Bowlus.

Yes, the Grenadier is impressively over-engineered for the task. While it boasts a maximum towing capacity of 7,716 pounds, the Bowlus features a GVWR of less than 4,000 pounds. This significant margin means the vehicle is never under strain, ensuring longevity for the drivetrain and a relaxed experience for the driver, even on challenging terrain.

The Grenadier embraces mechanical simplicity and analog toughness. In a world of touchscreen-heavy vehicles, the Grenadier prioritizes oversized physical buttons, dials, and switches that are clearly labeled and easy to operate. This no-frills, durable design is refreshing for travelers who value tactical feedback and reliability over digital complexity.

Designed with true expeditions in mind, the Grenadier features a modular architecture that enhances the off-grid lifestyle. Its integrated roof rails and exterior mounting points make it effortless to equip accessories such as additional water tanks, propane carriers, and recovery gear. It serves as a purpose-built platform that allows Bowlus owners to go farther and stay longer.

The Grenadier is built to get dirty. The interior floors are equipped with drain plugs so they can be hosed out, and the rear storage compartments are similarly drainable. The dashboard and door panels feature straight edges and minimal recesses, preventing dirt from accumulating and making it easy to wipe the entire cabin clean after an adventure.

Both the Bowlus and the INEOS Grenadier share a commitment to personality and mechanical integrity. Much like our iconic aluminum travel trailers, the Grenadier is analog in all the right ways—visible bolts, physical switches, and a sense of real adventure. It is the ideal companion for the traveler who values old-school toughness and a deeper connection to the journey.

Hi, I’m Geneva Long, CEO of Bowlus. This is the Bowlus Endless Highways, and this is the 2025 INEOS Grenadier Station Wagon. Today, we’re continuing our tow vehicle testing series with a very distinct, very capable, and very cool station wagon. The INEOS Grenadier makes no excuse for what it is—a highly capable off-road machine with a distinct no-frills style. The materials are hard, the switches are physical, and it is designed to get dirty, to be used, and to keep going. It’s a great match for the Bowlus.

Here’s my take on five things I like about the Grenadier. First, it feels like a classic truck built on a ladder frame, because it is. It’s stable, composed, and inspires confidence while towing; you don’t get any of the floaty, soft suspension feel you get in some luxury SUVs. The Grenadier is solid and planted. While the Bowlus is light with a GVWR of less than 4,000 pounds, the Grenadier is massively over-specced for the job. It has a maximum towing capacity of 7,716 pounds, which is not enough to tow a full-size RV from a traditional brand, but it’s way more than enough for a Bowlus.

The Grenadier is refreshing because everything you need is managed by physical buttons, dials, and switches, many of which are oversized and clearly labeled. In the Grenadier, even the infotainment screen is secondary to all other physical controls. One of its most appealing traits for Bowlus owners is how well it accommodates modular accessories for extended off-grid travel. It’s clear the vehicle was designed with expedition in mind, not just weekend outings. The Grenadier’s roof rails and exterior mounting points make it easy to equip with accessories like additional water tanks, propane carriers, recovery gear, and roof storage systems. The Grenadier doesn’t just tow the Bowlus, it enhances it. It’s a purpose-built platform for travelers who want to go farther and stay longer without relying on hookups or paved roads.

If you camp like me, then the interior of the Bowlus stays pristine and the tow vehicle gets filthy. For that reason, I really appreciate the durability of the Grenadier. The interior floors have drain plugs and are designed to be hosed out, and the rear storage compartments are drainable as well. The dashboard and door panels were intentionally designed with straight edges and minimal recesses so dirt doesn’t accumulate in tight corners, ensuring everything is easy to wipe clean after a dirty camping trip.

There’s something fun about towing a Bowlus with a vehicle that has as much personality as the Bowlus itself. Much like the Bowlus, it’s analog in all the right ways, with physical switches, visible bolts, and a sense that you’re actually adventuring as opposed to playing a video game through a touchscreen. Overall, the INEOS Grenadier is a fantastic match for the Bowlus. It’s capable, confident, and built for real off-road travel. If you’re the kind of person who values mechanical simplicity and old school toughness, it’s a great companion for long adventures. Stay tuned for our next tow test; we’ve got some more surprises coming. Don’t forget to like and subscribe to our channel for even more Bowlus content. Thank you so much.
