Bowlus AeroMove® Demonstration

The Rivet is the first production RV to be self-propelled, self-powered, and remote-controlled, enabling you to access virtually any campsite easily.

FAQs

AeroMove turns your Bowlus Rivet into a self-propelled, remote-controlled vehicle. Once you unhitch the trailer from your SUV or truck, you can use a handheld remote to drive the trailer independently. This allows you to position it in tight campsites or driveways without needing to back it up with your tow vehicle.

It uses high-torque electric motors mounted near the trailer’s wheels. When engaged, these motors press a grooved roller against the tires. The motors can spin independently, allowing the trailer to:
– Move forward and backward.
Pivot 360° on the spot.
– Maneuver into parallel parking spots that would be impossible to back into with a truck.

Yes. One of the most impressive specs of the AeroMove is its ability to traverse slopes of up to a 25% grade. This is significantly steeper than most standard driveways or campsite inclines, making it a lifesaver for mountain camping or tricky storage situations.

Yes, it pulls power from the Rivet’s onboard 8 kWh (or larger) lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery system. Because the trailer is lightweight (around 2,800 lbs dry), it doesn’t require a massive amount of energy to move at walking speeds, so you don’t have to worry about draining your “glamping” power just to park.

No. The AeroMove is strictly for low-speed maneuvering while unhitched. It is not a “hybrid drive” system designed to assist your tow vehicle at high speeds. Its primary purpose is to eliminate the stress of backing up and to allow for “impossible” positioning at your destination.

Currently, AeroMove is a headline feature for the Bowlus Rivet model. It is typically offered as an optional upgrade for both the Rivet and Endless Highways. While Bowlus is known for its “all-electric” luxury fleet, this specific remote-maneuvering tech is the standout option for the more rugged, off-road-capable Rivet.

Because the Rivet often comes with a 3-inch lift and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, the AeroMove system is designed to work on more than just pavement. It can handle typical campsite surfaces like gravel, dirt, and firm grass, provided the traction is sufficient for the rollers to grip the tires.
